Where to Go for the Best Brunch Near Greenwich, CT
Now that the weather in Greenwich, CT, is warming up, it’s time to start planning out all of your favorite springtime activities… Which, of course, includes weekend brunching!
The perfect brunch is a combination of good food, great drinks, and a gorgeous atmosphere. Whether it’s for a boozy brunch with the girls or Sunday brunch with the family, there are endless options around Greenwich that check all of these boxes and more.
Keep reading for five of my recommendations for the best brunch in and around Greenwich, Connecticut – let me know if I missed your favorite!
Le Fat Poodle
Location: 20 Arcadia Road, Old Greenwich
A list of great brunch spots in Greenwich wouldn’t be complete without one of my favorites – Le Fat Poodle! I have spent many birthdays, work lunches and weekend brunches here, so I have a lengthy (and credible) list of recommendations.
The savory options are my go-to for brunch. The shakshouka is best paired with a glass of pinot grigio! But, if you’re craving something sweet, then you have to get the french toast and a mimosa… Or two.
The atmosphere and food are equally fabulous, which makes it the perfectly Instagram-able brunch spot!
The Cottage
Location: 49 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich
The Cottage is a relatively new addition to Greenwich, but there is no doubt that it can hold its own! After earning the New York Times’ highest rating of ‘Excellent’ at the Westport location, Chef Brian Lewis opened a second restaurant in Greenwich.
Here’s what I’d consider must-try dishes: split the wagyu brisket bao buns and deviled farm eggs for the table. For your main dish, the wild mushroom frittata is the perfect option – the gruyere is amazing!
For drinks, there’s a wide variety of wines and cocktails available! If you’re a fan of a more bitter cocktail, then I would highly recommend the Aprés Ski. Or, if you’re like me, the low-alcohol cocktail Dante’s Garibaldi (orange juice and campari) is always a good idea for a weekend brunch.
Dessert is mandatory here! The hot fudge and peanut butter sundae is one of the best things on the menu (and might be one of the best things you’ll ever have) – seriously, the added peanut brittle is hard to pass up.
It is one of my favorite places to go to for Sunday brunch, especially since there is so much to do in the area afterwards. Located right on Greenwich Avenue, you can enjoy a day of strolling and window shopping down the street of shops.
L’Escale
Location: 500 Steamboat Road, Greenwich
For a more upscale dining experience, L’Escale is the perfect option. Located in the Delamar Hotel, you’ll have the best views of Greenwich Harbor while you sip on your bloody mary (made with “a little spice, a lot of sass” according to the menu).
L’Escale is definitely the place to splurge. You could spend hours moving through the seafood menu alone, but you’ll want to make room. For starters, try the plateau degustation: 9 oysters, 9 clams, 6 jumbo shrimp, and a lobster cocktail – yes, sign me up!
If you’re not a seafood lover, there’s other options that are just as delicious! The croque madame is one of my personal favorites, but I’ve heard amazing things about the l’escale brunch burger.
Whether you sit inside the elegant interior space or the outdoor waterside seating, you’ll have the perfect setting for your brunch experience.
Mèli-Mèlo
Location: 362 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich
This traditional creperie is like a little piece of France right in Greenwich. The owner, Marc Penvenne, brought his childhood favorites of buckwheat and wheat crépes to Greenwich, and it’s now one of my favorites, too! Méli-Mélo is perfect for a little morning pick-me-up or a relatively quick yet delicious weekend brunch.
With crépes, you can with a traditionally sweet option, like the fresh fruit crepe… But, in my opinion, the savory crepes are worth a try! There are tons of add ons and toppings if you’d rather customize the crepes to your liking.
Tony’s at the J House
Location: 1114 E Putnam Avenue, Riverside
This is one of my favorite spots in Riverside, especially for brunch! If you’re feeling adventurous (and have a free schedule for the rest of the day), go with the bottomless brunch option. You’ll get bottomless mimosas, bloody marys, or bellinis for 2 hours for $25 – it’s the perfect deal!
The menu is full of great brunch options, including the honey burrata, seafood cocktail, or the brunch burger. That, combined with bottomless bellinis, sounds like an ideal Sunday to me.
Also, the J Hotel is a fabulous hotel! Once you’re done with brunch, you can always book a last-minute session at the J House Spa. Doesn’t this just sound perfect?!
